Leena Kamat is the managing attorney of Kamat Law Corporation, licensed to practice law by the State Bar of California and the US District Court for the Northern District of California.  An active member of the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association (AILA), she draws upon her 10+ years of experience and the support of the incredible KLC squad to advocate zealously for her clients.  Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area to immigrant parents from Mumbai, Leena enjoys eating good food, watching Bollywood films, and working toward a better future for Americans and would-be Americans of all genders, faiths, and backgrounds. Leena earned her law degree from UC Davis School of Law, and Bachelors degrees from UC Berkeley in Business Administration and South Asian Studies.  She has volunteered for the Volunteer Legal Services Program, AIDS Legal Referral Panel, and several advocacy and social justice organizations.

is KLC’s Human Resources / Operations Manager with nearly a decade of experience providing strategic leadership and operational assistance in small to mid-size organizations. He works on a variety of immigration matters in addition to assessing organizational behavior and compliance.  In addition to the legal field, he has worked in an HR / operations capacity within the environmental, automotive, and retail sectors.

Ishmael holds an M.F.A. in English from Mills College, a B.A. in Journalism from The Ohio State University, and a B.A. in Spanish Studies from Wright State University. He is an enrolled citizen of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, an active member of the Native American Journalists Association (NAJA), and a regular contributor to News from Native California.

Since 2013, Stacie has handled various immigration cases including H-1B, PERM, family-based petitions, and other nonimmigrant visas. She has extensive experience supporting complex immigration matters such as PERM audits and Appeals/Motions to Reopen, managing and streamlining operations, and providing guidance to office assistants and interns. Stacie enjoys volunteering for non-profit organizations, sewing, and watching musicals. Stacie hopes to one day participate in a local musical production.

is our Legal Writer who focuses on PERM cases and audits, EB-1, NIW, and legal research for complex nonstandard petitions. Emily has been working in the immigration field since 2011. She received her B.A. in Political Science from Brown University and an MFA in Creative Writing at Saint Mary’s College of California.

In addition to her immigration work, Emily has worked in education for 15 years, serving students throughout the Bay Area. A writer and artist, she also has several upcoming book and interdisciplinary arts projects. Whether teaching, writing legal petitions, interacting with clients, or creating art, her practice is centered around individualized attention to detail.
